The KD1F Packet Cluster Node

The KD1F Packet Cluster Node is located high atop Bald Hill in Farmingville, New York. Originally on the air as KB2XL, it was one of the first DX Packet Cluster nodes on Long Island. The transmitter location is approximately 65 miles east of New York City and is in service primarily for Contesting and DX'ing. The resources are designed to aid operators who have these interests. The Packet Cluster System is open to all amateurs but take note that it is not a BBS.

User ports are as follows:
West of Selden, New York - 144.93 MHz.
East of Selden, New York - 144.59 MHz. (N2TGZ-2 Netrom)

The KD1F Packet Cluster System is also the Gateway to New England, the Mid-Atlantic States and the Mid West. There are numerous backbone frequecies on 440.XXX and 220.XXX.

Unlimited access: Registration is required if you want to use all of the resouces available.
Automatic Mail forwarding to any other Cluster user within the Packet Cluster Network which include Bulletins which can propogate locally or through the entire Network such as: Databases are on-line covering:

This data is retrived by doing a SHOW Command. For example: to retrieve a QSL Route: SHow/Qsl 5A1A.

File Area Bulletins. include:

To see the availble Bulletins do a SHow/BUL. An example of a bulletin retrieval of the OPDX Bulletin #220 would be "TYPE OPDX220".


Sysop: Emil Tillona, KD1F, is a Life Member of the ARRL, holds an Extra Class Amateur Radio license and is a very active DX'er with well over 300 confirmed countries and a 6 Band DXCC. He also enjoys QRP, RTTY and homebrew. Other hobbys include Flying (instrument), Photography, and Astronomy. Emil is a past President of Radio Central Amateur Radio Club.
